When Should I See a Dental Treatment for Gingivitis?

Plaque after 2-3 days if not removed by brushing, flossing will develop into tartar / tartar that sticks to the gumline. Once tartar develops, it cannot be removed by brushing, but only by going to the dentist for treatment.

In eating, drinking, living, sometimes there are dishes that make plaque difficult to remove by cleaning teeth at home. Therefore, it is extremely necessary to visit the dentist every 2-3 times for general examination and oral hygiene.

Because once tartar does not remove in time, it will create conditions for plaque to continue to accumulate, making tooth hygiene more difficult. When dental calculus develops, it will irritate the gums, causing swelling, inflammation and redness.

Subsequently, the untreated inflamed area becomes infected, forming bacterial foci, accompanied by bleeding teeth, bone resorption. In more severe cases turn into periodontitis, bacteria invade other parts of the bloodstream, causing liver, kidney, heart ...

Because mild gingivitis usually does not cause pain, the gum tissue is only red, so the patient does not pay attention, only after getting worse, then treatment can be expensive. Therefore, regular check-ups with the dentist will help patients to detect gingivitis early and treat them quickly and easily as soon as they start.

Treatment of gingivitis:

  • At home: In mild cases, patients should clean their mouth cavities and hold salt gums 2-3 times daily for 2-3 minutes with standardized saline.

  • At the clinic: with a lot of tartar, the doctor will remove normal tartar. If the portion of tartar that grows under the gum will perform non-surgical dredging. When it develops into periodontal inflammation, it may require treatment by deeper invasion of gum tissue along with a longer healing period.

  • In the case of gingivitis, which has become periodontitis and has caused liver, kidney and heart failure, the process is permanent and irreversible by conventional periodontal treatment which can only reduce the area of inflammation and swelling.
